Empowering Employers for the Future of Work

“Empowering Employers for the Future of Work” is an innovative research project funded by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) under the new Skills for Success Framework. The team at OCCSC in partnership with ESDC are inviting IT employers to help the technology sector identify the soft, social-emotional skills that organizations need to thrive in today’s changing work environment. The results of the research and program activities will lead to the creation of a toolkit containing training resources targeted at enhancing and developing social-emotional soft skills for the IT workforce of the future.

Project Phases

In Phase 1:

Through focus group discussions with IT employers the OCCSC team will explore the gaps and identify the soft skills needs and challenges the sector is experiencing within their teams as they proceed towards the future of work and the hybrid and remote economy.

In Phase 2:

In collaboration with several employers interested in enhancing or upskilling the social-emotional skills, OCCSC will design, deliver, and evaluate customized training tailored to their specific needs. The areas of focus could include communication, collaboration, adaptability, problem-solving, creativity, and leadership.
