Against Racism and HateDate: May 15, 2020
We recognise the incidences of racism and hate crime during this Pandemic time as reported in the news media. It is necessary to address concerns and create awareness that we all care for each other regardless of nationality. We can only be strong if we stay united and stop discriminatory acts of behaviour.
OCCSC is pleased to support CCNC for actions of anti-racism and anti-hate crimes. The Chinese Canadian National Council Toronto Chapter has refined a tool for online reporting of hate and racist incidents. The tool is now ready for use. It will be translated into English, French, Simplified and Traditional Chinese.
Message from Sharon Kan - Executive DirectorDate: May 1, 2020
The Ottawa Chinese Community Service Center has been busy continuing services on-line by giving out information for help and services to those impacted as a result of COVID-19. At the same time, we reach out to seniors who are isolated through mobilizing volunteers that help to get food and medication to their homes. We also help other community groups to find volunteers to help others in need.
As we all realize the sacrifice and important contribution of health care staff, the board and staff at OCCSC have made a donation of $2,500 to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation in support of their work, which is much needed.
